System is a BCM400 running 3.6 software. we have some people in who are fitting a couple of DoorPhone BST systems for us but they are limited in thier experience of this so I have been roped in and I is of limited help as well as it seems the system does not work.

OK. The Doorphone is an AVAYA / Nortel one. Single call button. We have connected the KSU pins back to pins 4 and 5 on a Digital port (DN:268), two futher wires to the DOC. I am assuming a digital port is used and not an ATA port via an AEM. From my undertanding, two things should happen now. Firstly, the light behind the call button should illuminate and secondly, it should appear as a GN in the Active Sets DN list. Neither does. Have we wired it up wrong ?.. Have I completed missed something here.

For starters yes you do need to use a digital port not analog. In Unified Manager you should see a door phone option, when the system sees the door phone this is where you will see the dn along with all the programming prompts. You need to tell the door phone where to call for ex. a hunt group, dn, etc. Do you plan on opening the door from a phone or just using it as a talk path?

Thank you. OK, well that is 1 thing correct, we have it on a digital port. The thing that may be a gotcha for me is that I beleive Pins 4 and 5 on the Cat5 panel within a stuctured wiring closet which go back to the the BCM400 are the pins we should be using. Can you confirm this please.

Also, which of the two pins on the Cat5 panel is +ve(data+) and which one is -ver(data-) in relation to what we are discussing, my belief is that (4) is +data and (5) is -data.

Yes, it will be used as both, door control and a talk path.

I think I have the Huntgroup stuff all down, it is just we can not get the BCM to see the Door Controller at all. Not even the light on the button comes on.

The DOC goes to the Door opening controller box then from that to the switch or magnit door opener not back to the digital ports. This is a seperate unit. The KSU is right to digital. You access the door phone by feature 984 or in the UM. Not sure if light will light up. Pairs 4&5 should be correct the Blue/white.

Thanks for all your input so far. Will revist it all tomorrow morning (Monday) and I have just this moment found a document on the net that details exactly how to configure the unit within a BCM 3.6 software fit.

Reading the document(s), the KSU wiring is polarity insensitive so it don't matter which way round the blue/white pair go.

The documents do suggest the light behind the call button should light up ONCE the unit has been recognised by the BCM.

We also have a spare BST so we will swap them out just in case the 1st one is faulty.

So, tomorrow morning it is, attack with full gusto and I will report back on the results.

Regards from a foggy and damp UK :)

You must do the programming from UM you cannot use f 9*4 as stated above. Like I said before if the BCM sees the doorphone you will see it in the menu, if you don't then it's probably not a BST style unit.

OK, update on last. Swapped the two units round, no joy. Fitters went and consulted someone and it seems there is two (2) different releases of the Nortel Doorphone. The Release 1 will work on BCM 3.6 and the Release 2 needs BCM 3.7... guess what combo we have!... Yep. BCM 3.6 with Release 2 of the Doorphone and it seems you can't get a rls 1 version, rare as rocking horse poo.

So, we have going to do a BCM 3.6 -> 4.0 upgrade. Now, does this open a new can of worms, is there anything I need to be aware off, what gotcha's can I expect ?
