I have a viking doorbox that I need to get working.

I have it wired to go through a CO trunk with points to a station out on the floor. For some reason it's not working, I have proved the problem to be either the trunks programming, or the card itself. Does anyone have an example of a doorbox trunks programming I can compare mine to?

Can't you just build it as a 2500 set rather than a CO Line? It might be easier...

Just a thought.

Thanks,

no, I can't. The client wants it this way.

i think if you build the station as an analog line,, you can give it a hotline destination, which goes to the line which will either open or close the circuit depending on how the box is wired.

or, build it as a trunk port, for the incoming destination of the trunk group you would put an analog extention, then put that line as a abridged apperance on whoever's phone needs to open it.

I have a trunk built with the incoming destination as an extension. the extension is bridged onto a phone. I have tried it as anaolog and digital stations. niether work. If I have the doorbox hooked straight into an analog phone on the line pins, it work fine. The analog phone rings. However if I have the line out going to the CO trunk and I push the call button on the box, nothing happens. I hear ringback on the box, but the CO won't pass the call.

wwmarcww-- We all know that clients are ALWAYS right <grins>, but what's the logic/business case for wanting/thinking it needs to use a CO port? There are almost always at least two ways to get to an acceptable solution. The problem with putting in on a CO pack is that the pack is an endpoint looking for CO-like signalling. It wants electrical current (battery) like it would get from the CO. I doubt that the doorbox is capable of providing loop or ground start battery and signalling. If it can, just find out what kind and see if the PBX has that option.

irisngen-- I also like the hotline configuration. Just disable switchook flash so users can't get second dial tone.

Other clients have the same type doorbox set up through a CO trunk. The box provides the current. However none of my other clients have a S8710, they are all on G3 switches. I have everything set up exactly like the other clients. The only differences are the switch type, and the model of the doorbox, it is a c-1000b the others are c1000-a. I talked to Viking tech support, and they say it works over a CO trunk. Thier install guide even has instructions on how to set it up over a CO trunk.

With a&b models, maybe its a polarity issue? Have you tried reversing the t/r pairs?

Analog station rings? k so make it a hotline that rings a term group only 4 members i know but how many people are waiting to hear it ring? otherwise viking use a night bell over paging unit put all extensions into a pickup group when they hear the bell. Call Pickup! Have one in place with 3 door phones 2 viking units look into viking's products they have what you'll need to make that work.if you need more info i will look into what i have in place and instructions to make it work. if i remember right i have a trunk group set up for this too work also. not clear on how i have it set up. have to dig. hope it helps!

wellco

It turns out after days of trying, the control unit seems to be bad. I had a coworker set up an identical box/setup on a test switch and it worked fine. It looks like the box I have here isn't putting out enough voltage.
