I am attempting to control 2 door relays using the EXT O/P port on the ip 500 unit.

I have wired one relay for testing. I cannot get any voltage to the relay. I am using a store bought 20ft 3.5mm stero wire. I cut the female end off and wired it to a 24v relay. I checked the wire with a volt meter and get no voltage comming from the port.

I used short codes to signal the relay. (the short codes are correct)

Any suggestions?

If you do a continuity test with the voltmeter when you activate the shortcodes, you will see/hear that the relay closes, it doesn't output any voltage it only opens and closes like a switch :)

When I say relay I am referring to the EXT O/P port as all it is is two relays :)

So basicly the port does not send voltage to triger a relay , but is a relay in and of its self?

So basically yes, they are just used to active bigger relays or for low voltages/current they can be the relay alone :)
