Have an existing Magix system w/ Viking door box's. They simply use the line ports off the Magix and a line appearence on the operator phone.

Is it going to work the same way w/ the IPO and is there any programming I need to do to the line port on the IPO that I'm going to use. I'm assuming a line appearence button on a phone would handle the answering of the door box. Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Figure it out damn-it!

If it uses a analog port it will function just the same. Now is the question if the doorphone dials a number or is it done via a hotline on the pabx.
If it is the doorphone that makes the call you are done with only connecting the doorphone to the ip office.
If you need to make a hotline you can simply do this to configure a function code on the port that dials the number that you want.

Actually, if it worked from line port (assuming CO line, not analog station) of the Magix, it should work exactly the same on IP Office. When a doorbox is on a CO position, it sends ring voltage, not digits...
Just put that line into unique group and make an appropriate incoming call route.

Ring Voltage should be measured as I have had the IPO not detect current on Viking Door phones. They only supply 22V or so, not enough juice to generate ring signal on the IPO....

Maybe distance is a factor too.

I have run into problems with a doorphone by another manufacturer when connected to a trunk port on the IPO. We even measure the ringing voltage and it was producing standard POTS ringing voltage to the IPO trunk port. We could even change the cadence cycle on the doorphone but still couldn't get it to seize a trunk on the IPO and ring in. Luckily the doorphone could be hooked up either way (trunk or station with a little rewiring) and it worked on a station port. I have used several of the Viking units on Partner and Legend/Magix without any troubles. I guess you will just have to try it on the IPO.

I have used the Viking E-30 and E-40 models without problems. You connect it with an analog extension and program the Analog extension to dial when in the off hook position.

There are many things that one can do when someone rings the bell; for example you can generate a shortcode to switch on a camera (using the IPO relays).

Cheers!
