Hello,
I'm trying to setup a doorphone to forward to an external number,Cellphone. I tried to set the doorphone ext. up with an external hotline in capabilites. No sucess. I set the extension that is the call DN for the door phone to call the same cell phone number. Works great. Why won't the doorphone get transfered to the external number. Even with the Hotline feature set to none. All other extensions will go to the cell number for the doorphone call DN. Why wont't the doorphone get forwarded?
Thanks Dmac,

Did you put a 9 in front of the dialing string? give it pool access or prime it to pool? in config ? I have never tried that before but would be very cool for home use :)

curlycord,
I think I need to clarify what I'm trying to accomplish with this. I set up xxxx extension with the external call forward programming. Building the route and destination code and all other programming for that feature. That works great when that extension is feature 4ed and the des code is entered and the number. This extension is also the call DN for the doorbox. The problem is when someone calls from the Doorbox the call is not forwarded to the forwarded number. It will forward fine from any other set such as 7310 or 7208. It will not get forwarded when Doorbox calls it.Maybe this will help you sort it out better.
Thanks for the help,
Dmac,

Dmac,
I presume this is a Norstar Door Phone and not an Algo phone... (if Algo - the thing to do would be to set up a trunk route which would ring into a phone and hence out again) But try this:
Set up the call DN to a port with nothing on it. Add this DN as an answer key on the phone that will handle the door phone when staff in attendance. Then, on the DN of the Ans Key, program Call Fwd No Answer externall to your target number, allowing some rings for staff to pick up if needed. Then test. The CFNA programming of the phantom DN should dominate.
Post back and let me know if this works.

Arr,
I'm heading out to site this morning. I will try what you suggested. It sounds like it will work. I will let you know.
Thanks,

Dmac,
Latest thought, ... the Doorphone doesn't outpulse DTMF. So if all fails, try an ATA2 as the call phone and loop it back into a trunk port. Then route from there.

Arr,
I tried what you suggested the answer DN thing. No luck. I did get it to work by setting it up to go to the voicemail and setting up the Off Premise Notification thing. That worked but it was really clunky. They didn't like it. Took to long to have the recieving guy to check his VM and call the Nortel Doorbox. I don't think the UPS guy will wait that long. So we decided to mount a 7208 outside the recieving area. That will forward to his cell phone every time. Thanks for the help though.
Dmac,

Dmac,
Ack.
You can fool all of the phones all af the time but only some of the phones some of the time.

why not forward the doorphone to another phone then externally call forward that phone

K2MERLIN,
It won't work because nobody calls the Nortel Door Phone. It is the phone that is originating the calls. The answer phone for the Nortel door phone has external call forward set up on it.
Dmac,

sorry scanned thru a little to quick let me get this straight the call dn or phone that the norstar doorphone rings will not externally call forward? If you have a newer NAM you can have it go to a personal mailbox,on the doorphone call dn, then set up outbounnd transfer but the delivery man would have to be propted to push 7, seven cannot be changed..

The only time I have seen this done was that the alarm company had this add-on module to the alarm panel and it would call out to a pager and leave a code but no commuication to the person at the door....I would put an old 500 set on an ATA instead of a 7308 if it's outside and maybe some aux ringer for notify in the wharehouse and use the pickup feature.....or is this person off site?.

Curlycord,
I'm installing one of those secure lock boxes to house the phone. It will actually be a 7100. Yes the recieving guy is away from the area quite often.
