Hello,
I have a customer that I wired a doorbox at the outside door of their reciving department. The doorbox is set to ring ext. 235 which is the attendant ext. It all works fine, where the problem arises is that they want to forward 235 to another ext. when the receptionist goes to lunch or something like that. She will only answer when no one is in the reciving area. Ext. 235 is set to forward to VM and delayed to 4 rings, she just puts the set in night mode when she leaves the desk so it will go to VM. Can it be setup to forward using the call forward feature which is feature 4 I think. She can cancel the feature when she returns. Will this override the forwarding to VM while it is turned on. Or maybe some one has a trick that works better that they have done? Thanks for the help.
Dmacnumberfour,

Call forwarding the receptionist phone may work, but you may encounter some problems with where incoming unanswered calls go. They may be put directly into 235`s mailbox after 4 rings, not the AA.

A different option would be to have the doorphone call a different ext. Then put an answer DN key for the ext you chose on any telephone that you want to be able to answer the doorphone. Depending on your software version, you may or may not be able to choose a DN that doesn`t have a physical phone attached.

For example, port 132 may have DN 252 assigned to it, but it`s not in use. Assign the doorphone to go to 252, and assign Answer DN of set 252 on the receptionist phone and any other phones you want the doorphone to ring on. This will be permanent and forwarding to voice mail would never happen on a doorphone call. (unless 252 was assigned as a mailbox and set to forward for some reason) Forwarding does not come into play on an Answer DN. You could go in and change the name for ext 252 to be DOOR or something like that, and it would appear on the display when someone uses it. If your version doesn`t let you do this, you could assign the doorphone to ring a physical ext that doesn`t have a mailbox or ringing incoming calls (ie lunch room phone) and put an Answer DN using that phone. Change the name of that phone to DOOR...

Thanks Schlum,
I,ll give it a try.How do you assign an answer DN I think it is in Terminals and Sets under Capabilities correct? If I want to make it ring other DN's I'll have to set the box to ring at those DN's.Feature 9*4 correct?
Dmacnumberfour,

Feature 9*4 is what you do to pick the ext you want the doorphone to ring. To assign the Answer DN for that ext you chose, it`s in Terminals and Sets, under the topic Line Access. You will go into every phone you want to ring and assign an Answer DN of that chosen DN. You must go into programming using the config password to access it.

Schlum,
Thanks again I'll give it a try. I'll post back with the results, probably next week.

Schlum,
I did the answer DN to three extensions for the Doorbox and it worked great. Customer is very happy. Thanks again for the help. I did find out that this information is in the install book that comes with the doorbox. I didn't have it because I moved a doorbox that they already had.

Dmacnumberfour,
