Hi

I have a problem with my XP Home.

Since i reinstalled my laptop with the rescue disks, it never saved my passwords in IExplorer neither in Outlook, even when i say so save password (in IE), and to save the password in Outlook. This only appens when i close and reopen the outlook, cause if i try to read the e-mail twice without close the Outlook, it uses the password i gave (setting the save password option).

Another problem i have is with Outlook. I received some MDB files in attachments. How can i read them, cause it locks the access, sayng that it's a potencial virus file.

What version of Outlook are you using? .MDB files are blocked by default. You have 2 choices to get around this issue.

1) Have the person resend the file with a different extension or not extension at all and then you add the extension back when you've saved it.

2) There is a registry hack to tell Outlook to allow MDB files to be opened.

If you would prefer the registry hack, let me know and I'll tell you how to do it.

I prefer the hacking style cause it's a pain that it doesn't allow me to open the attach. I will hack all the extensions

1) Open regedit
2) Goto HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Outlook\Security
3) Create a new String value called Level1Remove
4) In the value type file extension you wish to open in this case .mdb

If you would like to specify multiple extensions seperate them with a semicolon. Ex: .mdb;.bat;.exe

Enjoy!

Well, that solved the outlook problem.

I still remain with the IE password problem. It doesn't saves the passwords.

Did you try the Doug Knox fix? That usually fixes all the passwords not remembered issues with IE, OE or Outlook, as I believe they come from one common Protected Storage registry key. Have you rebooted since applying the fix?

Or is the situation as you imply, that Outlook now remembers passwords but IE doesn't?

It was the reboot.

Thanks
