We have just created a new Domino cluster including our primary Domino server and an offsite disaster recovery Domino server. We are now looking for the best method to create the initial replica's of the email databases on the remote server so cluster replication will work. We have successfully done a manual replication of a single db but we are looking for a more automated method using the admin client.

I'm not an admin, but if its a cluster, it seems to that the replication takes place automatically.

Are you sure that you created a cluster, and not just a new server in the domain ?

Pascal.

I've got nothing to hide, and I'd very much like to keep that away from prying eyes.

Thanks for the response. I have found the answer. The administrative databases do automatically replicate however the email databases must be replicated manually. You can however copy/paste them outside of Domino and they automatically become replicates as long as you put them into the /domino/mail directory. Just move them and they start interactively replicating because they are on a clustered server.

You can also use the Notes Administrator client to create multiple replicas of mail files or other databases. On the "Files" tab, just select (ctrl+A or ctrl+click) the ones to be replicated, then right-click and New-->Replica.

How did you deal with web access? When a user's primary server is down, their person document will still try to direct webmail requests to that server...

(We're planning a clustered environment, and I wanted to avoid any problems before they happen.)

We actually do not allow web access to this email system. Our clustering is only being used for disaster recovery so only mininal access is needed and we are accomplishing that via VPN and an offsite terminal server.

Sorry I couldn't offer any help on that one.

Thanks,
