Can users from a SBS2000 domain environment using Active Directory logon as an authenticated user to a Windows 2003 Standard server.

This server is used as a web server and is not part of the domain.

Alternatively what pros and cons are there to joining the Windows 2003 server to the domain, it sits within side our network and runs Sharepoint for external users, however could do with some internal access.

For security purposes it is not recomended to allow access into your domain from the outside.
Alternatively you can have your web applications authenticate, behind the scenes, to your domain and run the apps users need. This can be done at the webserver. Sharepoint is pretty good at doing this.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

So is it possible to have sharepoint authenticate on our domain without it being attached to our domain?

Ie: a user navigates to
Then logs in as DOMAIN/Domainuser (Password) from the Active directory of our domain and then that allows access?

I appreciate you may not be a sharepoint specialist.
