Hello

I have a remote user on a laptop using WinXP, he is attempting to logon this morning but is getting the error message "Unable to log you on because the domain is unavailable" (well, something close to that!) )

He normally works remotely and he said the last time he logged on was Friday and everything was ok then.

Does anyone know if there is a way of getting him logged on or fixing this? He lives/works a fair distance from here so getting the laptop back will be a last resort.

HELP! :)

Hi,

I would check if he has internet access from him laptop?
Can he ping the gateway at the main office?
Is the VPN he uses to connect up?
Any disconnected sessions?

Also the full error message may shed some more light on this.

Paul

If aint broken, dont try n fix it!!!!!

Hi Paul

He normally has internet access from his laptop, but I can unable to check the rest as its actually at the logon screen its giving him the error message.

The message is something along the lines of "The system cannot log you on, the "ZA" domain is unavailable. "

I then asked him to use his username with @za but it returned the error message "the system cannot log you on the domain is unavailable".

The VPN is up, as I have another 16 sales managers on the road who are all connecting OK, although I dont think this will be the problem.

Cheers
