I really would like to register a domain, but my ISP and website doesn't offer a nameserver.

I'm somewhat understanding the nameserver, but is there a registrar out there that will provide a domain name and a nameserver to make my work?

I'm sorry I'm wording this awkward, and I'm not a total n00b on this, but I get confused with the nameservers and such. I have a web address from Comcast but I want a domain name. Do I have to pay for the domain name and url forwarding or do I have options?

Thanks for your help!

There are MANY companies out there to register domain names. They will also run the DNS for you.

Be aware, Comcast does not allow you to run web, FTP or mail servers from your home connection. A friend lost his account that way. There are 3rd-party hosts, however.

Thanks! I went and got a webhost and registered a domain name.. but I have another question-

I registered my domain yesterday.. and entered in the nameserver with the registar.. today if I put in I can't get to my site.. however if I put in just mysite.com I get my site without the www. With the eventually or did I do something wrong?

It depends. Did you set up a in DNS for your domain?

Chris.
