Hello all:
Our Exchange Admin has recently left our company, so I am stuck with this duty for now. We recently purchased a new domain name. We host our own DNS. I have added the MX record and host record on our DNS server, and also created and mounted the store in Exchange for the new domain name. I want to set up email addresses for the new domain name. However, when I go into AD and set up a new user under the new OU I have created, I do not have @newdomain.com available for a user logon name. I am unable to set up any email addresses for the new domain name. Is this a DNS issue or something I have not properly configured in Exchange? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks,

Brett

Thank you for the link to FAQ. Unfortunately, it seems that I have the default recipient policy configured properly. I made sure to force the RUS to update immediately. Any other ideas?? Thanks,

Brett

If i am understanding you correctly, when you go to ADUC and you right click and select new user for the "user logon name" you do not see an "@newdomainname.com" correct?

If this is so, i do not think it matters because the info there is coming from the actual Domain name. so unless you have another domain or child domain called "newdomainname.com" it shouldn't affect you. When you are creating the new user and you get to the part where it asks for the email address, from there you can put the email address of newuser@newdomainname.com. and then as long as the default reciepent policy has that domain name there you should be good. I know this sounds confusing, but if you are looking at the area i think you are, it doesnt matter. Only when you get to the area of actually creating the user mailbox.

Thank you very much. That is where I was getting confused. Thanks again,

Brett
