My company uses "nhsie.org" as it's domain name. Originally it was decided that we would host our own website at Price considerations forced us to change to a hosted service but now when anyone types in it attempts to read the web page off the local server and since it's blank they get nothing. What's an easy way to make sure everyone get's directed to the web hosted internet page set rather than our local one?
Thanks in advance,
Darin

Remove the host name, cname, or alias specified in the DNS for your web site. Have the clients flushdns and clear IE history. Is your DNS forwarding to and external DNS?

Hewissa is correct. Most likely, your internal DNS server(s) have the old record in it's database.

So, when your clients are internal to your company, they get redirected to the internal web server.

To resolve this problem, you must delete the host record for
You should then clear the cache of your DNS servers, and clients...your should be good to go after that.

The new host entries are new XP systems that I have installed that have their primary DNS set to the IP of the server. This may be why they are looking up the web page on the server? If I don't set the primary DNS to the server it takes a long time to log on. Anyway, no, the internal DNS is not forwarding to an external DNS as far as I can see. I can't find a host name, cname or alias for

See on how to configure your DNS

Are there any other zones in your DNS?

Yes, login would be slow if the DNS on the clients was set to an alternate other that the local DNS. Your local DNS houses the SRV records for your DC's.

From a client, try and ping the what is the IP response?

Clear your history on the server/clients and flushdns to clear the resolver cache.

Truck,
In your forward look-up zone add a host entry named use the external ip for it's address.

Hewissa, there are no other zones in my DNS. I ping and get "ping request could not find host I tried flushing the dns and pinging again but I get the same error. I can successfully ping the ip address of the site.
WBG34, what external IP address should I use for the www. host entry? The dns ip of my isp, the router ip, gateway?

The ip address of the server that is hosting your website 64.26.22.57.

Truck,
Did you make a new forward LUZ or just a new host entry in the nhsie.org forward LUZ that currently exsistes. You want a new host entry not a new zone. If that does not fix it then open a command prompt on your server and type nslookup. Type and paste the results. Then type set all and then type nhsie.org and paste the results.

Just to exclude this as being a problem....

From your DNS server, can you access any other websites?

Can any of the clients access any websites?

I misunderstood you WBG34, yes I added a whole new FLUZ. I added the entry under the original FLUZ and it worked! My server could go to the nhsie.org web page and any other web page with no problem. All the clients could go to any web page except
