In your opinion, when do you feel Windows 10 is ready for an enterprise domain environment? We have 2 test PCs on the domain and everything seems good so far, but I'm curious what everyone thinks about deploying Windows 10 to client Windows 7 PCs. Is Windows 10 at that point yet?

Thanks, -Tom

IMNSHO, as long as all your programs run on Win10, I think it is.

That's sort of what I was leaning towards. Thanks for the tip!

Depends on the size of your environment and how you plan to deploy it. I can tell you that if you use SCCM, you'll need to be on 2012 or 2016 for full support. Otherwise, you'll be stuck with something like the more tedious MDT alternative from Microsoft.

Personally, I think the big push we're seeing from Microsoft is actually helping to speed things along (queue John Herman's rebuttal). In the environment where I work, we are seeing more and more vendors making the jump to support Windows 10 in a much faster timeline than we ever saw with Windows Vista or 8, and roughly equivalent to how it was with Windows 7. We are simultaneously exploring virtualized applications running through VDI and Citrix for the workstations in our environment that will still have non-compliant applications when the time comes to finally make the move to Windows 10. In fact, one software company actually gives us a sizeable discount for staying compliant, and the discount will no longer be valid if we're still on Windows 7 come Q2 2017. The pressure to move to Windows 10 over the next year is going to increase significantly, at least for companies like ours.

We'll see. Still feels overwhelming from an IT perspective. It seems like we just finished transitioning to Windows 7 for crying out loud.
