I'm running Server2003 R2 version and my work stations are dropping off the domain from time to time. How can I prevent this.

The actual computer accounts, or maybe dns records? If you could elaborate a bit that would be helpful.

The actual work stations. I'm using XP work stations and I have to log out and then log back in.

I have to log out and then log back in.

Need you to clarify this. Machines are not losing thier domain membership by the sound of above which I think contrasts the subject of the thread.

Are systems being logged out? What is not working?

I hope you find this post helpful.

When a machine loses the connection to the server I have to log out of the perticuliar work station I'm on and then log back in.
Or after losing the connection try to connect to the server through network places it asks me for username and password.

Ok, but what happens when they lose the connection?? What symptons so you see that indictaes they have 'lost' the connection??

When I click on my server with network places for example and I try to open my server I get a message not available. I then log out and log back in and all is OK (for awhile)

That is not loosing a connection to the domain. Only a resource becoming unavailable. Huge difference.

On both client and server execute the following from a command prompt:
net config server /autodisconnect:-1

I hope you find this post helpful.

Is this a recent install? This can also be a symptom of your DNS not being configured correctly.
