Getting ready to dump novell. Moving everything over to W2K Server. All my printers are there printing tcp/ip. I have some users who go to browse the entire network, but only the novell server shows up. We have 3 w2k servers in the domain. If you type in \\servername then instantly the domainname\domainservers show up. All of them. Tried updating drivers on network card and it worked for one and not another. When I try and add a network printer I can't use browse, because the domain isn't there. I can put in \\servername\printersharename and it works just fine. This is more a nuisance than anything, but it's bugging me. Have hosts, lmhosts, dns, wins, tcp/ip all set correctly. Only thing is there different network cards. Updating the driver should have taken care of it. Glen A. Johnson

Are the people trying to access the servers on novell. Are they running only TCP/IP.

All users currently tcp/ip and ipx/spx which is needed for the outdated version of novell we have. Same settings all accross the board. Log onto domain first, then novell, same wins, dns, gateway, everything the same. Glen A. Johnson

Do you have Client Services for Netware loaded on the clients? Are your domain controllers set up as WINS clients? Try getting 'netdiag' off of the W2K install CD (Support Tools directory) and running it. It will do an exhaustive look at the network settings on the system you run it on and let you know if there are any inconsistencies. It will also take a gander at your browsing environment, which is where the real problem is.

Shackdaddy, I have no problems with any w2k pro machines. It's only 98's. Glen A. Johnson

Ahh...98. Under your network settings, check the properties of your "Client for Microsoft Networks". Make sure the workgroup name matches the domain name. If not, that could be the problem.

No, one 98 can see the domain, the other can't. Only difference is type of nics. Both have the workgroup name "Workgroup" Glen A. Johnson

Changed the user's setting that couldn't see the domain from workgroup to domain name, and re-booted. It's all there. Only thing I can figure is the 98 machines with the better nics allowed better resolution. Think I'm going to change all 98's even if they can see the domain. Might help network connectivity. Glen A.
