On many workstations (NT and XP) when loging on, we recieve the error that the Domain Controller is unavailable, but then it logs on using cached profile,
and the server (Win2k) is there and working fine, all mapped drives are working, and server services....???

It takes twice as long to log on and I have users shouting at me....

Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Have all your clients primary dns in TCP/IP properties point to your internal DNS server (most likely on your 1st Domain Controller).

Indeed, what about the DNS configuration? And how many DCs you have? Sites defined?
Use the "netdiag" tool from resource kit, and see the configuration on your server and on one of your domain controllers.
