Hi,

I have installed a machine as a Win2000 server, however I want to make it a domain controller at the moment it seems to be behaving like a domain member server, allowing me to join a domain rather than host the domain.

Can anyone tell me where I need to look to change the machines status?

Cheers,

Chris

There's a tool called "dcpromo" which you run from the Start > Run box to create an Active Directory domain. Unless you're just playing around to learn, I'd suggest reading up on Active Directory on the many white papers available from the Microsoft website as if it's going to be a production server, you need to plan out how you're going to set it up to work for your organisation.

Cheers, Antony
