I have a 2000 server set up with XP Pro computers logging into it. The problem i'm having is that some computers after a decent length of idle time, once they try to access a shared folder, the Hour glass will hang around for about a minute and then a login box will appear. When you put in your username/pass that you have to login with, it will deny you. Im also getting error 5774 and 5775 in the event viewer, if there is any correlation im not sure but I might as well notify people who are trying to help. ANyway, any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance

Hi,

perhaps you have a problem with your DNS. Are your clients using DHCP or static IP adresses? If you use static IP adresses make sure that they register automatically at your DNS. Also have a look at the DNS configuration on your server. Try to switch your zone from secure updates to dynamic.
This might help.

Also check that your clients have their primary DNS server in TCP/IP properties set to your internal DNS server (usually on your first Domain Controller).

As shares are the problem, also check your DNS suffix settings for your clients are correct.
