Doing multiple updates to CAS

We have a CAS XP and Definity PBX which services several companies. Although the companies are separate, the are subsidiaries of each other. Several of the companies are going through re-organization and we need to update our CAS with new cost center codes. Not only are the cost centers changing, but the extension are being moved around. As it is today, we have to go into the administration function of CAS and update one extension at a time. I have reviewed the Import function, but it seems to be just as time consuming as updating the extension one at a time. I have a spread sheet of extension and new cost centers to work from. When I asked your maintenance provider, they said I had to send the information off to VERIMARK, but that take way too long, I am not very satisfied with their accuracy, and the business units keep changing things.

You can enter the cost code information into the room field of each definity extension. I know this is still time consuming, however, you can set up ASA to import the info every night automatically for you via ASA export. I must say this is tedious but it is the only way that I am aware of.

Be careful playing around with Room/jack/cable..etc fields on station forms to store info like Dept#'s. When TTI is enabled, the info in these fields stay with the switch port NOT the station.

i.e if you have station 1234 (dept A) and 1235 (dept B) and the 2 phones swap desks (by swapping the ports via SAT, DSA, or TTI). The next time you look at the station form, 1234 will show dept B and 1235 will show dept A. -CL
