I have an ongoing dispute with my ISP. I have subscribed to a service whereby I pay £15 (GBP) per month and get 40 hours per week free connection.

However, my phone bill included £128 of calls to the ISPs chargeable telephone number!!

I had only one dial-up connection configured and it was set for the FREE number.

The ISP are telling me I am not dialling the free number but my settings show I am. The phone company (BT) tell me ISPs can and do switch calls from free numbers to non-free numbers if the free numbers are busy. The phone company cannot tell me what number I am actually dialling.

Is there some way I can trace the number being dialled from my computer? I would love to have a log showing the ISP that I am dialling the free number.

Any other advice will be much appreciated - I am getting very frustrated with the ISP and the phone company. Steve Phillips, Crystal Consultant

They already told you they at their discretion use pay #,s. Sounds like a marketing ploy. In todays corrupt corparate world not unusal. I'd change ISP.Somewhere in your Os or modem settings thre is a place to log your calls.
