We have Sharepoint Portal and a user would like to create PDF forms to post there.

From what I have read, only xml-based forms that can be edited with Info-Path are allowed. We don't have Info-Path (and I'm having a hard time getting management to purchase it). I did discover that html forms will post and display properly. I don't have an experimental PDF form to try, so I wanted to ask you folks.

I couldn't find anything in the archived questions that mentioned this. Thanks for reading!

you can store absolutely anything within a sharepoint library.

do you mean that you want to store the file in a document library on SharePoint (much like you would do with a Word doc.) and have users download it, open it, and fill it out or do you want a user to click on a link and the form is displayed on the screen ready to accept input (much like an HTML form)??

I believe we want to be able to display and fill out the PDF form from Sharepoint and then either store the completed form on Sharepoint or email it (in this case, to our security dept).

I have discovered that we can create a Word form that the user can A) fill out, print, and fax or B)fill out, save locally, and email. Will Sharepoint allow that for a PDF form?

I also discovered that although Sharepoint will allow HTML forms, Internet Explorer version 6 doesn't understand radio buttons. (Bringing up Sharepoint in Firefox and then using that html form worked fine.) Since so much of Sharepoint depends on IE however, I need to stay within that browser.

Thanks,
Rosalie

adobe pdf's wont have the same seamless collaboration/saving between the different office programs and sharepoint. one alternative is to look into using microsoft infopath for forms.

Thanks, Wolvie. Yes, I have been battling my administration to get Info-Path and do our forms that way. A huge benefit in using Info-Path would be the ability to store the info directly to a data base for future use and easy updating. Those of us who would like to use the information are still working on getting approval to purchase Info-Path, but in the meantime, we are making do with Word Forms.

Thanks for your reply!

you could always download the infopath2007 beta for free and whip up some demo forms to help convince them of the value.

Thanks, I hadn't realized that was possible. I will check that out!

Thanks again for your help, I think my questions have been answered.
