Everybody, our company has recently decided that we need some type of Groupware product, and Exchange is at the top of the list. However I keep coming back to Mdaemon's groupware and poking around the information posted. We are a small company (under 100 email accounts) and I think Exchange is just going to be a little more than we need at least in terms of capabilities, however we do need all of the sharing abilities that are built into it. And on the bonus side, being able to save thousands of dollars certainly wouldn't me either.

So how about it? Any users use both products? Pluses and minuses to both? Is Groupware a REAL alternative to Exchange? How about on the user end, is it as easy to use with a plugin vs built in?

Any and all comments would be appreciated.

Hi,

No real help yet but I am about to test this setup on my new server so if I have any more info I will post it here.

I did hear someone say it is not yet perfect...but they were used to ecxchange so that might have been why they were very critical.

Greetings,

Pim

hi
I have tried both producst.

well i can say in conclusion if you have a na active directory i do prefer that u use (Exchange) it is good connected to active directory.
Moreever , if you r thinking to use Instant messaging you can do that with Exchange.
About the security in reading emails (Exchange) is more secure!!
However, MDaemon is easier in setup and low cost as you said.

stay cool;)

VERY low cost of ownership with MDaemon. We like version 5 OK and are getting ready to go to version 7.

Call up and ask your Microsoft provider if they can provide exchange and CAL's with virus scanning AND spyware blocker for under $1000.

PS You can buy an additional package and synchronize with outlook.

Exchange is better, but only slightly better and WAY more expensive.
