Does exchange 2000 work on a NT4 network?

We currently have a NT4.0 network with a 5.5 exchange server. Is it possible to upgrade to exchange 2000 on the current setup i have now. We have other 2000 servers on our network but they are only member servers right now since I havn't upraded the PDC yet...
 
Yes, sort of. Ex2K uses Active Directory for its accounts. There are no Exchange accounts distinct from NT accounts. Thus, you have to have AD up and running. AD can run in "mixed mode" in a domain with AD and NT domain controllers. So, not only do you need Ex2K, but you need a W2K domain controller.
