Does CR XI handle memo-type fields differently to CR X?

Running CR X on desktop, and CRServer XI. We only use CR XI for report scheduling, not for report creation. Report creation/modification is done entirely on CR X on the desktop, then save the reports to CRServer.

My datasource is CA-Unicentre Sevice Desk - used for incident call and problem call logging. An incident call will have many actions (open, log comment, transfer to another team/person, close etc) logged against it during its life-cycle. I have to report on those calls transferred from Team A to Team B, and also include all the actions logged against those calls. Actions are kept in a separate linked table to the calls.

To make the reports run quicker, I run 1 report to grab every incident that has the requisite transfer action and export this collection to an xls file. Later, a 2nd report will run, referencing the xls file and pulling all the activity log comment fields (memo-type) for these calls from the USD datasource.

Now the problem - occasionally (note, not every time), CRServer will not pull the comment fields from the USD source to the 2nd report, but running the report from my desktop CR X will always pull the comment fields.

Anyone got any ideas, or experienced similar problems?
 
What Data Source connection are you using for the USD?

eg SQL Server ODBC, Oracle Native?

I take it the memo fields are in the USD database?

I have just tested CR XI and CRS XI against an Access memo data field and it behaves fine.

The connection is SQL Server ODBC, and it does work most of the time, just occasionally it doesn't return the data from the memo fields.

There are 2 memo fields, both in the same Actions table, and they either both work or both fail - I thought it might be a data link issue, but have tried inner/outer/left/right joins with no difference in the results.

It appears to be a bug with CR XI.

What version of CR are your running? Hopefully a patch or upgrade to CR XI Release 2 will resolve your issue.
 
Many thanks for your time, that looks to be the issue... We're running CRServer XI (which looks like it is built on the BOE platform), so I'll look into getting an upgrade to Release 2.
