Hospital setting, dealing with HL7 text messages transmitted by a pathology report transcription system...
I'm working on developing an HL7 report transmission interface an it's giving me fits! I have everything working (demographics, etc.) EXCEPT the OBX segment field 5 where the meat of the report resides. My receiving app (Meditech PCI via NMI) requires the use of a "~" (tilde) to format lines to 80 characters or less. We are using BizTalk for the first time for this and every message we send through with any tilde in the OBX-5 field appears to have the entire text stripped off by BizTalk! I say that BizTalk is balking at the tilde in OBX-5, my interface analyst maintains the message is formatted incorrectly. Any insights to be offered here????????
