I'm very new to JavaScripting. I'm looking for a script that will scroll a few images across the page and then STOP. I don't want the viewer to have control buttons or to see anything other than the image.

There are plenty of image scrollers to be found but as far as I can see, none of them have the ability to stop themselves. I've spent hours searching for one.

Has anyone seen a script like that ?

thanks !

I may have what you're looking for, but be more specific on what you are wanting. Try to be as detailed as you can, I can modify what I have to fit what you need.

Thanks ! It may help if you can see the page I am working on ?

Depending on what browser you use, you will either see 3 bears just sitting there or 3 bears scrolling across the page. I want them to scroll in and stop as soon as they are centered on the page. I don't want the text to move. If stopping them in the right location takes changing a number in the script and reloading everytime....I certainly don't mind spending the time doing that if I was told what number needed the changing.

In other words, I want them to see the page just as it is except for the bears that are scrolling in should stop when centered. Am I clear enough ? If not, please let me know what part is confusing and I'd be happy to try again.

Right now, the scrolling is just set with marquee, which is why you will only see them move in IE.

Here's hoping you can help ! :)

thanks again,

Apparently there is another problem with it as well....in netscape 800x600 res only (IE shows it fine at 800x600), one of the bears drops down :( I'm mentioning this because if that is what you viewed it with then this would all be very confusing to you.

I'm trying to figure out why - resizing the bears by as much as 50%, taking out all the space breaks, did nothing to alter one bear dropping down. I find it hard to believe that netscape res is THAT much different than IE so it must be another problem. I'm trying to figure it out - sorry if you saw that and it was confusing.

thanks

Here's a bit of a discovery ! IF you take off the marquee, one bear will also drop down at that res in IE ! So...what I'm hoping this means is if I can get a JavaScript to make the 3 bears scroll then it should show properly in netscape at that res too ?

Sounds right to me :)

thanks

Sorry to be so annoying....the dawn comes slowly for some of us ! (G)
I gather a scroll would work for both browsers in that res...but not with a stop ? wouldn't one bear drop down in that res when it stopped ? :(

I think I have the choice of either letting it scroll with no stop, or using a stop (if you are able to help me with that) and then adding a pop up window giving viewers a choice of intro pages according to what res they are viewing in.

Frustrating...from now on, I should remember to design in that res and in Netscape - then I won't come up with ideas that can't be used yet.

I also have a "raindrop" idea but I'll post that to the board seperately.

thanks !

Hi!
I don't know script that you can use for that, but dropping down bear problem can be solved by making new image that will consists of three bears. It can be done even in MS Paint, just cut and paste.
Good Luck!

I made the new image and it's beautiful but too large for a website, shrinking it really cuts down the photo quality too much. I really like the image though and may use it for other things !

Thanks :)
