the Avaya documentation is so bad its not worth a crap... We have the VMpro's setup with IIS SMTP and the main VM Pro sees the distributed vm, but the messages never appear on the users mail box.

Really? I've always been able to make it work. Seems pretty cut and dry to me. It's usually a relay error. Your SMTP relay is set to allow communications, yes? By default they are not, if I remember correctly.
