Hi Folks.
I'm fairly new to this, so please bear with me.
ARCserve v.9

Does a media pool have to consist of tape devices, or can I specify a hard drive? I use the server to backup from remote site, so I have no need to have further off-site (via tape) backup. I currently have 540GB of space on a RAID array which I wish to use.

I'd like to use GFS, but I can only do this if I specify a Media Pool.

Any input very welcome please!

You'll have to configure ARCserve for backup-to-disk to utilize your free disk space.
Check : on how to configure this.
Play around with the backup scheme possibilities in order to customize backup to disk to your specific needs, I don't know if GFS is handy in this situation.

Open ArcServ, select from the menu

-Wizard
-Device Configuration

Here you can select the backup device you want to use, and just follow the wizard.

Good Luck.
