Hello everyone

I've been asked a question about if the BCM system supports a function where a person can call another extension to override their activated Call Forward button. This facility exists on the larger Meridian 1 / Succession systems & it's a FFC code of "CFHO". I'm unable to find any reference within the Nortel task based guides.

Would I be correct in thinking that it's not possible?. Any help from the experts would be nice please?.

Many thanks

DB

Hello SupportDude

A good example would be if a BCM user has put their phone on Call Forward to another extn or e.g. Voicemail & the system operaator knows that the BCM user is still at their desk & needs to transfer a call to them by overriding the applied Call Forward. I hope that makes some sense?.

Makes complete sense Firebird.
I would think Voice Call would work.

Use this feature to make an announcement or begin a conversation through the speaker of another telephone in the system. The telephone you call does not ring. Instead, the person you call hears a beep and then your voice. Their telephone will beep periodically to remind the person that their microphone is open. (FEATURE 66) Some telephones cannot receive voice calls (7000 and 7100 digital phone, 2001 IP telephone, and the wireless
handsets that do not have speakers). For these telephones, set all calls to ring on the telephone, so the user can be alerted that a voice call is occurring.

If you set HF Answerback in capabilities, the set receiving the Voice Call can respond without lifting the handset.

Voice call doesn't work when a set has a CF always on it but i'm wondering if you program that DN in a hunt group and program it to appear&ring on that set.Since call forward has no effect on hunt groups maybe the set will still ring.Of course you're limited by the number of hunt groups but if working it could solve your problem.Give it a try and let us know.

Hi Guys

One of my colleagues had suggested the following..

Looking at the features guide it is possible that Ftr69 (Priority Call) may carry out the function required.

However the customer tried it out and replied back with this..

This works, but it actually overrides everything! If the number you are overriding is on the phone to someone else then it cuts through!.

It looks like the only way is use use the Voice Call facility. I'll get the customer to try it out. Many thanks guys for your help so far.

Regards

DB

There is a limited way this works without F69:

Say Boss x201 Call Fwds to Secretary x205; any user calling 201 shall be forwarded to 205 - except for 205...

205 can call 201.

This, I'm guessing is to allow Boss/ Secretary working; any callers are forwarded to the Secretary on 205 however the Secretary can dial the Boss should the call be urgent.

Hoping this helps.

the only way is, if you know the mailbox pass, or just reset it, enter to the mailbox and options 8,2,3,1 that remove any forward set

this may help if you only want to override a few extensions
If you put an extension into a hunt group on its own then ring that hunt dn you will call the extension even if it is fowarded

Excellent idea, if you had just a couple. You could make the DN and Hunt DN resemble each other in some way.

That's what i suggested in my first post but he didnt test it or forgot to reply. So nagel it is confirmed working?

yes we have it working for a few extensions put it working a few days ago no problems reported as yet
