Hi all, Unfortunately (or stupidly maybe :-( ) I've run a malicious batch file on my PC and its nuked the entire content of Documents and settings folder - it seems like this was the only damage. (I was logged in as adminstrator at the time too..)

I was wondering what my options are - is it time to break out the emergency repair disk, do I need to re-install all my programs and/or operating system (!!) or is there some other course of action???
cheers!

Yes, you certainly have options.
Firstly, you must not install any new software onto the system as the deleted files could be permanently overwritten on your hard drive.
As is, only their references have been deleted.
Secondly, your options vary depending on your operating system and whether its a PC or a laptop and if it is a FAT partition or an NTFS.
I will assume you are using Windows 2000 on a PC with an NTFS partition.
If not, let me know.

Solution:
Get a Windows undelete program. If you need some names, just ask.
Install the software on another Windows 2000 PC.
Then remove the hard drive from the PC with the problem
and install it as the slave drive on the PC with the new software.
Then run the undelete software from the new system on the slave hard disk.
It willfind the deleted "Documents and Settings" folder.
Simply restore it and then place the drive back in the original system.
Any questions, let me know?
