Hello,

I'm trying to upgrade from Mercator version 6.7.1 to Websphere Transformation Extender version 8.1. I am developing on Windows and deploying to Solaris. I've been looking through the little bit of documentation supplied, but have not found any detailed documentation on upgrading. For example, I see that directory structures, environment variables, etc. have been renamed or removed.

Anyone know where I can get instructions on the steps to upgrade beyond just saying to "install and follow the prompts"?

Thanks in advance!
Tim

There isn't anything massively different in the installation-
executables have changed their names, but links using the old names still exist
the Java class path names have changed but that shouldn't affect you
the launcher.txt file now has a different name and goes in the logs directory

the 'Whats new' section in the user guide may highlight any other big server changes.

cheers,
Olly.

Read the pdf in C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere Transformation Extender 8.1\docs\utility_commands to get the details on utilities for converting maps and typetrees. If you use XML you will probably need some patches for the conversion utilities to get them to work properly.

various file names have changed from mercator.*

One of the big things to be aware of is that there is no longer a launcher.txt file. Of course if you never used it before you won't miss it.

The good news is that the launcher file information is still available in the logs folder. While not as convenient its there. You'll need to write something to maintain the folder though.

Other wise it looks like its about the same as previous versions.

Thanks everyone. Turns out my main problem was IBM neglected to give me part of the software, and that's why I wasn't seeing what I was expecting. Now that I have it, I'm starting down the upgrade path again.

Thanks again for your help. I'm sure it will come in handy as I continue....
