Hi,

I am using MS Office 2003. I have configured my printer to print to specific mailbox instead of a direct print. However, when I try to print some documents, it still prints directly instead of to the mailbox. I check the document's printing properties and it is set to Print instead of Store.

Is this the default behaviour for Document's print settings to overide the default printer's settings? How do I make the default printer's settings to overide all documents' print settings?

Thank you all for your advice.

Start Menu -> Printers and Faxes

or if you don't have Printers and Faxes on your start menu, open them from Control Panel. Depending upon your system configuration, it will be directly under Control Panel, or else you'll have to go through Printers and Other Hardware.

Once there, find your printer, right-click on it, select properites, make your changes, and close the prompt(s).

If you have any documents open, close them all, save changes as necessary.

Just to make sure all processes ended properly, it wouldn't hurt to log-out, and log back into Windows... or else Shut-Down and Restart. This piece isn't necessary, but if you want to make absolutely sure all necessary processes have stopped, this'll work every time. [wink]

Open a Document, and see if the settings are now the way you like. If not, then it may be something with your logon script, if you are on a network.

If you're not on a network (in other words, a work computer for instance), and your settings changes didn't stick, then you've got some other problem.

The printer has been set to Store from day 1. The document is accessible by other users in the same department. Therefore, when other users print the document, it is printed to their respective store(mailbox). Sometimes, when I print the document, the setting is still set to other users' mailbox even though my printer's default is set to my mailbox.

Hmm, well, to me, that'd sound like a bug in Word or the printer driver, but I'm not sure how you would tell.

Are you sure Word is up to date?
Are you sure the printer driver is up to date/most recent version?
Is it possible you're using different versions of Word on each machine?

My Word is Office 2003 with SP3. The driver may not be the latest version but this is the same driver used on all other PCs and only myself and 2 other users have this problem. We do have a mix of Office 2007, 2003 and 2000 in use. However, the rest of those 2003 users do not have this problem though.

Any other ideas?
