Quick question ...

Does anyone know where to set the default "Save As" location for Microsoft Office Document Imaging? I have a user whose files are automatically going into her temp folder and I need to reset to the correct location.

I have tried using the Print Driver - MODI Writer - to set this, but it's correct already. I've also checked the default save location in the registry - also correct.

Anyone know how to do this??

Thanks!

If there is no explicit option, then the last thing might have been saved or saved as in the temp folder. So maybe it remembered the location. Try saving a file (say a download from somewhere) to a different location and try it out. Otherwise go to 'File Locations' tab in word options (Tools -- options) and see one of them is used for your purpose.

I went to the user's computer, Word settings are fine. She says it only happens when the file in question arrives as an attachment to an email (we use electronic faxes, so they're typically fax attachments).

As for the Save location itself, I believe you may be onto something in regards to the "last place saved". I checked a little into the Office 2003 settings, and it looks like what Outlook does when she opens a fax to view it before saving is save a copy to the temp folder - which would be the last place something was saved to before she tries. (I realize that was probably poorly phrased, but hopefully still makes sense.)

So technically, I guess the question has changed a bit ... what do I need to do to turn off this feature of Outlook (2003) so that it ceases to save a temp copy when opening? A regedit, perhaps?

I think I may have found the solution in this thread:

I've applied the fix to the user's computer, and now its just a waiting game ... she has to wait for a fax to come in for her before she can try it. I'll let you know how it turns out.
