I have a MICS 6.1 with a DOC that is to open a magnetic lock. I provided only the contact closure to the door guy who wired into his access controller system. Periodically the door gets stuck in a locked position. The door guy blames the DOC and says the relay is faulty. I go there and find it works fine. I am about the change the DOC.

I've recently learned the DOC relay is wired into the motion sensor near the door which releases the magnetic lock ('in series'). Is that a typical scenario? I am not a locksmith or door expert.

We're at the finger pointing stage of the relationship.

Do you meant to say they press open on the set, that then gives power to the motion which it then powers the gate?

Something strange on that setup....why a motion detector when you can just press OPEN, or why a DOC when they can just drive up to the motion sensor.

The DOC only completes the 24 volt circuit to be connected to the door mechanism. If they have put something in between then sounds like it is their issue.

What is it they or you do to fix the "stuck lock"

there is a motion sensor over the door, when someone walks by, the door unlocks, that is a standard setup. the lock installer/security vendor decided that the DOC could be wired into the same connection as the motion sensor to activate the relay to unlock the door. It works sometimes, but I suppose isn't correct.

We only use the DOC as contact closure, the power for the magnetic lock I don't believe is running through the DOC. I don't know what voltage is running through the DOC. I did read the DOC relay is rated for 8 amp, 30V.

I raised this because when I got some information how it's setup I figured it was strange and wanted to look for some advice. I am not a door / lock expert. I've done several other DOCs, Valcom and Viking units without issue.

Customer now has a different security vendor who has decided the DOC is interfering. I simply asked that we need a contact closure point on their 'panel' to unlock the door. provide that and we can move forward.

Thanks for the feedback!

Is there a Door Phone involved?
Do they even use OPEN on the set/s?

Some older Motion Detectors (lights over the driveway I know for sure) do not pass the needed full power to the new smart bulbs and wonder if same issue here.

I am starting to sense they motion sensor by day (timer) and OPEN by night with sets.

This might be how I would wire it:

yes there is a doorphone. the doors lock on a timer at 830pm till 7am. At night as you approach the door from the inside the lock opens (magnetic lock). For a visitor, someone pushes the doorphone, inside the staff can press OPEN or 6. I've tested it fine.

They just changed the motion sensor. But many times, I am told, the door will not unlock when someone approaches the door from the inside and somehow the DOC is to blame.

Thanks for the diagram.

it's a strange setup, but again, I am not the security vendor.
