I used DB2 V8.1 PTF5.
At Last Week, I altered bufferpool sizing from 20G to 45G.
(The total memory of the machine is 64G)
But, while I did work data conversion (only Load of 500G data), db2 did stop. I tried to do db2start. But, I failed. So I did ipclean/ db2_kill. Anyway I could db2start. I cann't connect db.
At OS system(AIX5.1), When I did db2start, memory is fulling 100% and db2 process did shutdown.
I know that I can bufferpool size on total memory of 75% .
When I can't connect db, Isn't it alter bufferpool sizing.
when I can't connect DB, Does it exist the method of altering,
Do I must rebuild DB ?

Use DB2_OVERRIDE_BPF.

db2set DB2_OVERRIDE_BPF=x

Here is the explanation from the manuals:

Values: a positive numeric number of pages

Specifies the size of the buffer pool, in pages, to be created at database activation, or first connection, time. It is useful when failures occur during database activation or first connection resulting from memory constraints. Should even a minimal buffer pool of 16 pages not be brought up by the database manager, then the user can try again after specifying a smaller number of pages using this environment variable. The memory constraint could arise either because of a real memory shortage (which is rare); or, because of the attempt by the database manager to allocate large, inaccurately configured buffer pools. This value, if set, will override the current buffer pool size
