Do we need 4 PECIII's

Inherited a customer who has a BCM400 v4 with all the latest software patches.
They have 3 x PRI and 3 x DSM32+. They also have 64 LAN CTE licences so the end users can dial out via TAPI.
There are 6 ports allocated for voicemail.
They currently have 2 PECIII cards, and I was wondering if it would be advisable to add another 2 PEC's to cope with their busiest times in the afternoons.
In tha alarm logs, they are experiencing a lot of 799 ISDN call processing errors.

Any thoughts on this please.

Shouldn't need additional PECs in your case. You'd add additional PECs if you need more DSP resources. With only 6 mail ports and no IP sets/trunks, you're DSP usage would be low.

Thanks Biv, my reason for asking is that when the customer is going through a busy period (they are primarily an outbound call centre, but no call centre configured), the system slows down, when dialling via Tapi, it takes an age to pick up a line.
The clocking on the 3 x PRI are set correctly.
Their issues mainly arose after having the third DTM installed.

What does the BCM monitor show for the amount of memory being used? LAN CTE/TAPI won't use any DSP resources. If the memory usage is high, you might want to add another 256MB of RAM to the box, assuming it only has 256MB in it today. The third PRI shouldn't cause those issues, but could be responsible for the ISDN call processing errors. Are all three connected to the PSTN, or is their a tie trunk to another system?

Thanks for that Biv.
The scenario now is that when they get to 55-57 outgoing calls, the system starts to slow down. The customer has noticed a slight improvement since adding the additional Pec's.
The memory usage on the monitor does not exceed 58% in busy period.
The 3 x PRI are connected to the PSTN.
Our engineer is back on site tomorrow, and I have suggested adding the additional RAM as the BCM currently only has 256MB.
I will post outcome on this.

Thanks again

SOP for me is to install 4 PECS and Max system memory on initial installation. I have found that this leads to FAR, FAR, fewer errors and glitches in the long run.
Biv is right, you should not NEED 4 PECs but it seems to help in every case. I normally install one gig of memory and it works every time.
