I installed a VAL board tn2501ap hw1 fw 20, into a G650 cabinet. I knew the board was used somewhere else previously, so a display integrated announcements showed 0 announcements and 627 time remaining. I connected to the board via ftp and there are no files in the directory. What is absorbing all the time? Shouldn't a board with 0 annc have 3600 sec remaining.

Do you have Val Manager to see if anything is still left behind on the board? That is what I would suggest

dont forget when you connect to the board you need to cd to the /annc directory.

Also you should be able to do a "list directory board XXXXX /annc" from CM.

If this is an older board they were very picky when it came to removing them and there was no way to garuntee it would maintain any annoucements. you may have simply wiped the board.

isn't there a customer options field for 10 mins/ 1 hour capacity ?

What license do you have loaded in your system? Have you purchased the capability for 1 hr recordings or for multiple boards?

Sounds like this is an R9-R11 without a 1 hour license which gives about 10 minutes (about 627 seconds).

Wow what a response thank you. Ok where to start the systems are duplicated S8730s' running cm 5 with 3 port networks with 2 G650s in each port netework. now When I get val board information I only get information for 1 val board in 1b05, but not for the other val board in 3b08. That has me raising an eyebrow. Where do I check for the correct lic on RFA or on switch.

i think simreal is correct. Usually even when you delete announcements using VAL manager I find more often than not it doesn't delete it out of the VAL boards onboard direcetory. Use the commands above in simreal's post to verify the announcements actually on the board and then compare that with the list integ announcements command.

on a realease 5 system, look at page 6 of the disp capacity command. It will tell you how many val boards you are licensed for.

Thank you everyone, I am going to get a list of what announcements should be on the board and compare to the directory of files shown in the ftp connection, and then the task of deleting 1 file at a time.

Another way to audit files right from VAL manager is to go to the BACKUP BOARD section. Before launching the backup, it will list all files on the board followed by an A and or an F.

The A means this file exists in the announcement properties of the Communication Manager. An F means there is a recoding/file. If you have an announcement with an F but no A, you know this a junk file/announcement.

A - announcement in CM, just not recorded yet
AF - announcement in CM and recorded
F - no announcement in CM but file on board (junk)

You can also get this garbage out right from the telephone interface. Let say you had a junk file:

junk.wav F

go to CM, and add announcement next. create an announcement named the same as the file you want to remove "junk". The use the phone interface or VAL to delete this announcement.
