Hi,

I need your help a.s.a.p.
I got the blackout at my office, when I got the power, I have the urgent problem with the MCI-Nortell telephone system.
I can make a phonecall, but when I tried to call to my office,
I can not hear the incoming ring tone, but I can pick-up phoneset and answer the phone.
I have already check the phoneset's properties. The line is apply&ring.
What should I do to solve this problem?

Thank you very much,
SP :(

What software are you using and are your calls comming in via PRI? the reason I ask is that there is a known problem with 5.0 running PRI that is connected to a DMS Switch at the CO. If you are running NI2 protocol then you may not receive ring back tone. Your going to need to upgrade.

What type of set is it?
Have you tried another set at this location?
Do other sets have the same problem?
In other words, is it just your phone set? Just your line?

Sometimes simply unplugging a phone and then plugging it back in after a minute or two can clear a glitch.

You can also try removing the line appearance from the phone, exiting programming, then going back in and reassigning it.

Hi,

All of the phone sets have the same problem, we have M7208, M7310.

I have already checked the line assign property, it's appr & ring all of the phonesets, I also change it to ring, and rechange to appr & ring. But it still do not work.

Before this problem occured, we had the security company came to setup the fire alam and security system. And we got blackout at 12.30. I have checked all this afternoon (1 to 6)
There was no ringtone during the afternoon. But I was shock when I received a call from Security company at 6.00 pm (I heard ringtone) After this call, I tried to call again and again, and it works. I am sure that I did not change anything.
So, I got a big headache, HOW this problem was solved?
Do you think the security setting is the cause of this problem?

Thank,
Soisuda

I'm assuming these are analog lines? I know security systems need a line connected to their panel. Maybe the line they used was the one with the trouble? I know alot of times they put line one of the phone system on their panel (i think this is not a good idea). If they are using line 1 I'd bet that's where the trouble was. If this reoccurs, and they are using line 1, I would recommend moving it to line 2 so you still have your main #.

Depending on how many lines you have, you may want to have them move it to line 3 or 4. I am wondering if you tried any of your other lines to see if you could ring the phones. If they are in fact using line 1, do your lines roll over? If they do, and your phones still did not ring, you may have something else.
Just a thought.
