Hi All,

We are using Exchange Server 2000 in our office and once in a while some of our e-mails will bounce back to us with the following:

Any assistance in resolving the above will be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance.

I had the same issue with a few domains and it happened intermittently. I think I've isolated the problem...so far so good.

The default maximum hop count is 15 hops. I trace routed one of the domains that was erroring out and it had 23 hops.

I increased my SMTP servers maximum hop count to 30 and it is relaying to that domain now without a problem. I'll let you know if it stays that way.

I had the problem with some mailboxes in our own organization. Couldn't be reached from internal and external addresses. Tried several things. The one that worked was following:
- In Active Directory, delete mailbox from account.
- Replicate servers i.a.(we have multiple Exchange servers)
- In Exchange System Manager, Run Cleanup Agent
- Reconnect the mailbox to the same account.
- Replicate servers i.a.
- Sent a testmail.

In my case the mail arrived. If you get the errormessage "The mailbox does not exist inthe organization" you have to wait for replication.
