Do it over again? The other side 3

In a previous thread, the question was asked of those who have degrees if they would do it over again. In that thread keyser456 correctly pointed out that there is the other side of the coin, that being from those who do not have degrees.

So I ask of those who do NOT have degrees, if you could do it over, would you get a degree, and if so, in what discipline?

To be honest, I originally thought that RileyCat's remark was a well placed sarcastic comment. All one has to do is remember that business software development began in the 1950's and the accounting and inventory were the first business departments to be automated by the software industry. The relationship between IT and Accounting goes back to almost day one, and still today in many organizations (although not as prevalent as it used to be), you see the IT department under the CFO.

Another aspect that we must all remember is that IT is both hardware and software. lespaul is correct that you must always remember that virtually every department is dependant on IT to some degree, and the degree that you must know other aspects of the business is largely determined by how far removed you are from the hardware side, and how close and involved you are to the software side of the IT house.
