In the last 4 weeks i have been geting the following message being displayed

Warning
Device: SONY 1 (CSE2K01)
The tape drive is having problems reading data. No data has been lost but there has been a reduction in the performance of the tape.

Has anybody else come across this warning and if so what steps were taken?

just to add we have been cleaning the tape drive with a cleaner tape

Make sure its not the same tape that is causing the errors, otherwise the head has probably been worn, it might be time for a service - or an upgrade.

How many times have you used the cleaning tape? Have you ever replaced it?

Cleaning tapes are not good for unlimited cleanings. My cleaning tapes (for LTO devices) is only good for a maximum of 50 cleanings. I have seen some that are only good for 20 cleanings.

HAve you tried updating your tape drivers?
might be worth a try.
