I'M IN THE PROCESS OF UPGRADING MY 24.24 SOFTWARE (WITH A GAZILLION PATCHES) TO SUCCESSION 4. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO HAVE AGENTS LOG IN REMOTELY FROM HOME USING SOFTPHONES. MY ORIGINAL INSTALL VENDOR IS SAYING I NEED A SIGALING SERVER; THE COMPANY THAT IS SELLING ME THE UPGRADE AND INSTALLING IT, SAYS I DON'T, I JUST NEED THE MEDIA GATEWAY THAT THEY'RE PROVIDING. HELP!!! WHAT DO I REALLY NEED? ANY SUGGESTIONS?

THANKS

If you are going to have IP phones for your agents, you should get a signalling server. If you already have IP stations you can get by without the sig server, but if you are going to spend the money for the upgrade get the sig server and you can use element manager to set it up. If not you will need to have otm installed to configure the Media cards

Ask them how are they going to provision the Media cards without the sig server.

No you dont have to have one but I would get on. They are pretty cheap and work gooood.
