I have recently set up a new SMS server with a new site name. On the client machines the old site name appears in the properties of the Systems Managment Server icon in the control panel. Is there a way to rename this or do they have to be unistalled. I'm also having trouble discovering all the systmes on the network, I can only see the users. Could this be the reason?

i've been told by some of our higher ups that you don't have to uninstall the clients, but you MUST uninstall/delete the info off of the servers (domain controllers). and even after that, it's a good bet to give the site a new name, just to be sure (we're on the fifth name. . .). i guess the clients will do pretty much what's told of them, but the servers are a little more picky.

on a side note, does anyone know of a clean way to uninstall the SMS files off of a domain controller, if the SMS server is no longer in existance?

Alex

p.s. a sneaky way to uninstall clients

and an article from microsoft on the servers

How DO you give your site a new name? I wish to try this--is there a simple way of renaming the site, or do you need to reinstall? Thanks.
