Do I have to take a oracle course to take a cert test?

I have been reading about taking OCP cert tests and I read somewhere that you must take the courses before you can actually take the tests? Maybe I am just wrong. Please let me know.

For the Oracle 9i OCP track, you are required to take ONE class to meet the criteria for certification...however, you do not have to take it before you take the corresponding test. You can opt to take the class in a classroom, or online (save about $1250 US). For the Oracle 9i OCA track, you are not required to take a class, nor are you if you decide to certify on Oracle 8i and then upgrade. Hope this helps.
