DNS zone transfer to slave not working

We are using RS6000 F50's with AIX 4.3. I have configured one as a master DNS server and another as a slave. Both servers are part of a single domain but reside on different subnets. I have been able to resolute addresses defined on the master but cannot force a zone transfer to the slave. I would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas.

I have managed to get zone transfers working by using the named4 daemon service as opposed to named8. Is there any fundamental difference between these 2 services as IBM recommend using named8 as support for named4 is being phased out.

These are very different versions. Try reading the O'Reilly book "DNS and BIND".
