I have a few file and print servers, who's DNS records automagically are disappearing. I enter them into my DC's DNS as a manual entry and they disappear after a period of time. It is sometimes a few days, sometimes a week, but its almost like its scavenging the record and removing it, and I cant tell why. The file/print servers have static IP's.

Any thoughts? Its really getting to be a problem.

How annoying.

It's probably not scavenging if it's a static entry. You can turn it off by right-clicking dns server and choosing set aging and scavenging.

Could it be DHCP deleting the records? You could check the DNS tab of the scope properties. Depends on your setup.
