I have a web-server which can be accessed externally (i.e. via internet)BUT when trying to access internally (via LAN) the web-page takes ages to download. If the computer-name of the web-server is used then download (on LAN) of web-page is instant. COULD this be a DNS name resolution problem: The following have been checked: Clients point to AD/DNS server's IP Address, the DNS server is forwarded to the ISP DNS server.

What else could I check? Please advise

check if your clients are set not to use the proxy to acces local adresses

Internet Explorer properties - Connections - LAN Properties. Make sure that the fields are all empty if you are not using a local proxy. If you are enter in the proxy IP but make sure there is a tick in the 'Bypass proxy for local addresses'.

Steve.
