Since i installed Novell Client 32 on a workstation i can not connect to Internet.
If I "ping" for example, it says me "Bad IP Adress"
I can only "ping" with the IP Adress (ex: PING 192.233.80.9) .
Client32 is known to 'litely modify' your
network components configuration.
make sure DNS servers are mantioned at the TCP/IP properties tab.
Do you use LMhosts ? Try and see if the file wasn't modified.

What happens is that Novell Client 32 tries to install WINSOCK2. It is usually successful, sometimes though with lots of NIC changes it is not able to.

One method that has worked for me is to use Microsofts WINSOCK2 upgrade in another Win95 PC that has the MS 16 bit client on it.

Remove the Novell client from affected PC first.

The MS Winsock2 upgrade creates a subdirectory called \WINDOWS\WS2BAKUP that holds file for original Winsock.

Copying this subdirectory over to the problem machine, and
after making sure all DLLs are not write protected. Reboot in safe mode, run the .bat file in WS2BAKUP. Then reboot to MSDOS and manually copy the files again from WS2BAKUP to the \WINDOWS\SYSTEM subdir.

When you reboot, the system will be back to original Winsock.

Check your TCP/IP, it should work at this point. Then
make sure you use Novell client later than 2.5, ie. Ver 3.1
seems okay.

The tcp\ip is fine because you are able to 'ping" by octet but unable to "ping" by the name. Make sure that named.nlm is loaded on your dns server and that your client is pointing to it. That should clear it up.
