I've asked a similar question before, but I have more symptoms now. My question is I have two servers, one that is the PDC, and one that I'm still setting up. Here are the problems I'm getting:

1. Can't browse the network on any client PC.
Error : *DOMAIN* is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available.

2. The server I'm setting up doesn't "see" my PDC, nor does my PDC see my second server. This is making syncing of DNS records and A/D a problem.

3. The second server is set up as a member of a workgroup, should I not be able to set it as a member of a domain? When I try I see:
Error : A domain controller for the domain test.local could not be contacted. Ensure that the domain name is typed correcly. If the name is correct, click Details for troubleshooting information.

I'm suspecting DNS is the problem, however I don't really know what I'm doing.

Thanks for the help!

the root dns servers part is there by default.
If you want your dns server to resolve internet dns, then you should simply delete this '.' zone...
That way your dns will be able to resolve internet domains if you put your ISP's dns server as a redirector.

if you access the net with a proxy, then leave this '.' zone.

and....

post us the result of IPCONFIG /ALL on both your servers and one of the dhcp clients......

Aftertaf

"Resolve is never stronger than the night before it was never weaker

Question are you running all computers server and workstation through a router ? if yes then you need to have the Root Server ip as DNS set in the router. Example
192.168.1.1 <---internet(routergateway) RootServer 192.168.1.2 <----server local ip put this in the router Client Default DNS which is 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 for Dynamic ip (it will assign the DNS ip to client) if you set the workstation as Static ip you have to enter alternate and primary DNS as 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.1. I have the browsing network problem too this solve it.

wheelandcog: The nbtstat showed only the server (ran on client pc)
afterftaf: the Server doesn't need to store dns for inet and the server is also not a proxy

Here is the ipconfg /all info

Thanks for all the help!

thanks fer the ipconfigs...
i see that you have three interfaces in the server.
Until you finish trouble shooting disable all of them ( in device manager) except the one with the .10 address,
check your manually created dns record for this server points to .10
remove any dns entries to do withthe other interfaces

have you got a wins installed, bind that to the .10 do the same for dhcp.. in short get everything running on one card for the time being,

what flava are the client OS's ?
